Residential Summer Schools 2010
- Architecture
- Business and Property
The Summer Schools are available to Year 12 students from schools and colleges in
the South West of England, who may be wondering about whether to apply to university,
or aren't clear what higher education involves, or might be thinking that it's not an
option for them. The Summer Schools aim to increase the number of people from
under-represented social groups who want to progress to higher education, and we are
particularly keen to attract applications from young people who are part of their
school/college Aimhigher group who may have participated in Aimhigher events
in previous years.
There are two Summer School programmes, one concentrating on Architecture, and the other on Business and Property.
The Summer Schools are a fun, interactive event designed to give students a taste of university life by providing the opportunity to spend five days and four nights living on a university campus as a student. It will enable you to experience university-style teaching and social life, in order to help you make an informed decision about your future in education.
Both Summer Schools are totally free and include all travel, accommodation, food, drink and social activities.
The Business and Property Summer School gives you the opportunity to be a property developer for a week, to help you decide whether business or property are possible careers for you, and to give you some idea of whether you’d like to study business or property at university.
The Architecture Summer School is designed to support and encourage students who are thinking about studying architecture at university, get you thinking about creating architectural space, and help you develop your architectural drawing skills.
Please click on the links below to download the student and teacher information booklets, and the application forms. Please check the eligibility criteria (in the teacher information booklet) and note that each application must be supported by the student's teacher, who must complete the teacher section of the application.
You should aim to submit your application by the end of March 2010.
