The Short Course Programme

Clifton suspension bridge The University of the West of England's short course programme is aimed at all those working in planning, development and related disciplines. We offer an ever growing and changing series of courses to reflect the needs of practitioners at all levels.

Our courses are for planners, architects, surveyors, valuers, lawyers, construction professionals and other related practitioners as well as technical and support staff. All are run by experienced staff and most take the form of interactive workshops and presentations. Most offer CPD certification.

Keeping up to date in a fast moving profession has never been more important than it is today. On the one hand our courses bring the latest thinking and developments in the field to experienced professionals; on the other hand we offer a wide range of opportunities to improve skills and learning for those starting out or wishing to get more involved in planning and related activity with a view to career progression.

The programme of short courses builds on our long experience of delivering high quality, interactive and enjoyable courses both in Bristol and around the country, we are sure you will find it stimulating and relevant to your needs.

Our course programme is centred on Bristol, but we also run programmes in the north of England, the Midlands and the east of England. We can also organise a special package of courses for consortia of organisations, such as local planning authorities, consultancies or other organisations.

In-house courses

In-house courses can also be arranged to suit the needs of either one organisation or a local consortium e.g. local planning authorities or consultancies. Developed from our extensive programme, in-house courses are available for professional staff and for technical, clerical and adminstrative staff.

A separate programme of councillors training for elected members is also available and again this can be tailored to cover particular issues of local concern.
