Undergraduate courses - programmed open day
6 February 2010
27 March 2010
This open day is mainly intended for prospective full time students but it will also useful for prospective part time students.
We have designed the programme so that it gives you an opportunity to get a really good understanding of the course that you have chosen. The programme includes a presentation about the course and tours of the School, as well as opportunities to speak informally to course leaders and current students, and to resolve any individual queries and concerns. You do need to decide which particular course you want to hear about, but if you want to find out about any additional courses, we can introduce you to those course leaders at the end of the open day programme.
You will have time before and after the School's open day programme to join the activities which are organised by the University for open days, such as the tours of student accommodation and talks on student finance, etc.
10:45 to 11:00
Please make your way to the School in Q block, where tea and coffee will be offered.
11:00
Applicants will go with the course leaders and current students for a presentation
about the course and an opportunity to ask questions of staff and students. Parents
and other guests will hear a presentation from the Head of School and Director of
the Undergraduate Scheme, and following this you will be invited to put questions
about any aspects of the School and University to the Head of the School, Director
of the Undergraduate Scheme and the Admissions Manager.
12:00
Applicants will be taken by current students on a guided tour of the School, which is
also an opportunity to ask students about studying at UWE and living in Bristol. Parents
and other guests will then meet the course leader for a presentation about the course
and an opportunity to ask questions.
12:45 to 13:00
Applicants rejoin their parents and other guests, when staff
will be available to answer any further questions.
13:30 to 16:00: drop-in afternoon session
The programme outlined above is designed to give applicants and their
parents a comprehensive view of the courses and support we offer, and
we recommend that you attend the morning programme. However, if you
find that you are unable to attend in the morning, course leaders and
admissions staff will be available in Q block during the afternoon
to talk informally to you about the School and the courses we offer.
At 14:00 there will be a presentation from the Head of School and
Director of the Undergraduate Scheme, and following this you will
be invited to put questions about any aspects of the School and
University to the Head of the School, Director of the Undergraduate
Scheme and the Admissions Manager.

Undergraduate courses - drop in open day
9 June 2010
This open day is mainly intended for prospective full time students but it will also useful for prospective part time students.
As you may already have discovered, we offer an unusually wide range of courses in the built and natural environments, and to help you decide which course would best meet your needs, we have designed this open day so that it gives you an opportunity to speak to as many course leaders as you wish. Our other open days later in the Autumn and in the Spring (see below) are designed to give a really good understanding of one particular course, but on those days there is less opportunity to speak to a large number of course leaders.
As part of this open day, you can take a tour of the School with current students, which gives you an opportunity to ask them about studying at UWE and living in Bristol.
There will be a programme of talks, repeated at 10:30, 12:00 and 13:30 (and once more if required). Each programme will comprise three talks and will last around half an hour in total:
Head of the School - Welcome and overview of the School
Director of the Undergraduate Scheme - Teaching, student support and employability
Admissions Manager - Admissions requirements and processes
All three will be available to answer questions.
Please arrive at the School anytime between 10:00 and 15:00, and allow about an hour for your visit. The mornings tend to be very busy - you may prefer to arrive at the School after 13:00. You will have time before and after visiting the School to join the activities which are organised by the University for open days, such as the tours of student accommodation and talks on student finance, etc.
Postgraduate courses
The next events specifically for postgraduate courses are:
- Wednesday 10 March 2010, arrive any time from 16:00 to 19:00
- Saturday 8 May, arrive any time from 10:00 to 12:00
If you are interested in a postgraduate course and would like to visit us sooner, you are welcome to come to an undergraduate open day as a way of getting a general view of UWE and the School of the Built and Natural Environment. Note that postgraduate course leaders will not generally be available at the undergraduate open days, but you are welcome to contact them with any questions, or to arrange to meet them. Their contact details are in the course descriptions online.
