Graduate School

The School of the Built and Natural Environment has more than a thousand students undertaking graduate study, either on taught programmes (e.g. masters and graduate diploma courses) or research degrees (e.g. PhD and professional doctorate programmes). All graduate students are members of the Graduate School of the Faculty of Environment and Technology. The main purpose of the Graduate School is to foster an active graduate community, bringing together students on taught courses and those undertaking research degrees.

The work of the Graduate School is based on the Faculty’s extensive research programmes, and on the innovativeness and high quality of its teaching. It has dedicated spaces in the Faculty’s buildings on the main campus, including teaching rooms and informal areas. It runs events of different kinds, including poster sessions, academic skills workshops and postgraduate research conferences. Each course has a student adviser, located in the Graduate and Professional Studies office, who provides pastoral support and general advice.
