Centre for Environment and Planning

Welcome to the website for the Centre for Environment and Planning (CEP) at UWE.

The Centre undertakes research and consultancy on contemporary issues in spatial planning and urban design. It aims to produce an evidence and knowledge base that is useful to other scholars, practitioners and policy makers. Members of the Centre specialise in four interrelated themes:

  • UK and European spatial planning
  • Economic development and urban regeneration
  • Sustainable communities
  • Inclusive planning and design

The CEP team comprises spatial planners, urban designers, urban theorists, social scientists, architects, economists, landscape architects and housing and transport experts. This breadth of expertise helps to deliver integrated and multidisciplinary research and consultancy. We work with numerous national and international partners to influence academic debates, and to inform and evaluate policy and practice.

Linked to CEP is the World Health Organisation (WHO) Collaborating Centre for Healthy Cities and Urban Policy. Please see the WHO Centre's pages for information on its research.

We hope that you can find what you are looking for on this site. If you are unable to do this, do not hesitate to contact us.
